Success for the 7th International Hat’s Art Competition

PRESSE     Prize of the public given at Sharon BAINBRIDGE (U.K.)

Organized every other year in a competition context, this 7th edition suggested the creators to work on the theme "Free Time".

177 hats were received.

This event holds its own as a major rendez-vous of the world designers who contribute to the renewal of the Creation.

The sponsoring of prestigious companies of the fashion, textile and luxury world such as the Maison HERMES, and the support of some local and national structures such as the SEMA ( Société d'Encouragement aux Métiers d'Art), the Mode-Habillement Rhône-Alpes and the Chamber of Trade of Loire area contributed to the construction of this great frame.

19 countries are represented:

The creation of hat is extraordinary and so motivates the talents of the entire world: the European Community, the United States of America, Canada, Japan, Australia.

The Jury was composed of: Philippe MOLINS from Maison MOTSCH-HERMES, Marie-Claire VAUTRIN Milliner, Alessandra MAREGATTI from Maison BORSALINO, and Martine VILLELONGUE from the Fashion University of Lyon. The task of the jury was particularly tricky as far they were supposed to elect 12 winners.

The exhibition will permit people to admire the hats that were awarded a prize and the 112 hats selected by the jury. The exhibition will take place at Workshop-Museum of hat, from may 27th to september 30th 2007.

A show will present on may 27th 2007 the most spectacular hats received thanks to the troupe "Faut qu'ça scène".

Three schedules are planned: 2. P.M, 3. P.M. and 4. P.M. There is no admission charge for the show.

The prize of the public will be given at the end of the exhibition. It will be the occasion for visitors to participate each one by electing his or her favourite hat. The creator of the hat elected by the public will receive on this occasion an original trophy: a work signed by the artist from Chazelles Albert NEEL, winner of the Roma prize.

The Workshop-Museum of Hat is open every afternoon except the thursdays from 2 P.M to 6 P.M.

On july and august: every afternoon from 2 P.M to 6 P.M.
