HAT-CREATION
Success
for the 6th International Meeting of Hat Arts
Organized
every other year in a competition context, this 6th edition suggested the
creators to work on the theme "contrast".
Those
taking part in the competition, have they skilfully combined the materials, the
textures (matt aspect/brilliance) and/or the colours? The competitors made town
hats that were stylish, handy, comfortable, original as well as event hats that
were at times extravagant but always wearable. Such hats are conceived as worn
accessory and not as an art object. In reference to the history of chazelles-sur-Lyon,
the felt hat, aged-old activity, had a place in the creation concept.
224
hats were received against 176 two years ago.
This
event holds its own as a major rendez-vous of the world designers who contribute
to the renewal of the Creation.
the
sponsoring of prestigious companies of the fashion, textile and luxury world
such as the Maison HERMES, and the support of some local and national structures
such as the SEMA ( Société d'Encouragement aux Métiers d'Art) and the Chamber
of Trade of Loire area contributed to the construction of this great frame.
18
countries are represented:
The
creation of hat is extraordinary and so motivates the talents of the entire
world: the European Community, Turkey, the United States of America, Canada,
Japan, Australia.
The
Jury was
composed of: Philippe MOLINS from Maison MOTSCH-HERMES; Grégoria RECIO, working
as milliner; Claudie LINCHET, milliner too; Françoise SEINCE from the Société
d'Encouragement aux Métiers d'Art; Ms CHAUVE-DESAGE, honorable president of the
association Workshop-Museum of hat; Mr PORTENEUVE from the Chamber of Trade of
Loire area.
The
task of the jury was particularly tricky as far they were supposed to elect 13
winners.
The
exhibition
will permit people to admire the hats that were awarded a prize and the 109 hats
selected by the jury. The exhibition will take place at Workshop-Museum of hat,
from may 22nd to october 02nd 2005.
